90-second demo

Paste a job, open your city's permit portal and click Fill page. Filled fields are outlined in green so you can check them before you submit.

How it works

FilePermits enters the site address, homeowner, scope of work, valuation, equipment details and your license and registration numbers. You stay in charge of every page.

  1. Set up your company profile once

Licenses, city registrations, insurance and contacts. Everyone on your team fills from the same profile.

  2. Paste a job or capture it from your job page

Paste a job summary, estimate or email from your field-service software, or capture it from the open job page. FilePermits reads it into job fields and flags anything missing.

  3. On each permit page, click Fill page

New page? FilePermits maps it once and remembers it for next time. Filled fields are outlined in green, and anything that needs you is flagged before you continue.

What FilePermits never does

You stay in control of every application. These rules are built into the extension.

  • Never submits applications or pays fees

It fills in fields. You review the application and click the portal's own Continue, Submit and Pay buttons.

  • Never signs or checks certification boxes for you

Signature, attestation and certification fields are always left for you.

  • Never stores your portal passwords

You sign in to each city portal yourself. Password, payment and CAPTCHA fields are never filled.

  • Stores homeowner job details only in your browser

Job text is read by AI to fill in the job fields; our servers don't keep it. The job stays in Chrome on your computer and is deleted after 30 days (or 7 or 90, your choice).

Frequently asked questions

Which cities?

Most city portals; Accela cities pre-mapped first. FilePermits works on Accela Citizen Access portals and most other city permit websites. When it reaches a page it hasn't seen before, it maps that page once and remembers it for your whole team.

Does FilePermits submit the application for me?

No. FilePermits fills in fields and leaves the rest to you. You review every value, complete any signature or certification boxes, and click the portal's own Submit and Pay buttons.

Where are my job details stored?

In your browser. When you paste or capture a job, the text is sent to our server and our AI provider, Anthropic, to read it into job fields. Our servers don't store or log it. The job is kept only in Chrome on your computer and deleted after 30 days by default (you can choose 7 or 90). Your company profile and page templates are stored in your FilePermits account so your team can share them. Details are in our Privacy Policy.

Which trades is it for?

Residential HVAC, plumbing and electrical contractors, especially shops that pull permits every week.

What do I need?

Google Chrome on a desktop or laptop, a FilePermits subscription, and your usual login for each city portal. FilePermits never asks for or stores your portal passwords.

What if FilePermits gets something wrong?

FilePermits uses AI to read jobs and map new pages, and AI can make mistakes, so review everything before you submit. Filled fields are outlined in green, fields that need you in amber, and fields it couldn't fill in red with the reason. Fields that already have a value are left alone unless you choose to overwrite them.

Can you help me get set up?

Yes. Book a 15-min setup and we'll help you enter your company profile and walk through your first permit application.

How do I cancel?

Your account owner can cancel anytime in the FilePermits panel under Settings, Manage billing. If FilePermits isn't right for you, email [email protected] within 14 days of your first payment for a full refund.
